FanStory.com Review
FanStory.com is a writing site. In this review we discuss whether FanStory.com is a helpful place for writers and worth your time and money.
In short, the answer is - yes. It is an excellent place for writers to learn and become better writers. There are a few shortcomings though but anyone interested in becoming a better writer should consider this online community for writers.
FanStory.com provides writers with feedback for poetry, stories and scripts (such as a television script). When a writer posts a work they get two reviews. Additional reviews are provided in a "give and take" system. If you write reviews you will get more reviews. So there isn't a requirement to write a certain number of reviews prior to getting reviews.
The FanStory.com reviews are generally detailed and helpful. Because there isn't a requirement to write reviews (some writers simply accept the two reviews and never write reviews) we find that the reviews are much more detailed and helpful. There isn't the rush to write reviews in order to post something. But there are the occasional generic reviews as well.
The other feature of the site are the writing contests. FanStory.com hosts 50 writing contests every month. The contests vary from poetry contests to writing contests. When looking for a writing contest you should consider how it is judged. FanStory.com staff is not part of the judging. Rather, they use a third party "contest committee" made up of distinguished writers and reviewers to determine the winners. The winners are normally announced 5-7 days after the contest deadline. The winners are announced on the sites welcome page and Facebook page.

In Short: Recommended. An excellent writing community for writers looking to get feedback and improve their writing skills.
Recommended for writers of all skill levels. This site benefits by not requiring writers to write reviews. Having a large number of writing contests judged by a contest committee.
